Popil Selected for Vacant School Board Seat

Late last night, the Scranton School Board voted to appoint retired state auditor Greg Popil to the seat left vacant by the death of Carol Oleski.  Popil and eleven other candidates interviewed for the opportunity of filling the remainder of Oleski’s unexpired term.

Popil, who lives on North Cameron Avenue, previously served as a school director from 1986 to 1991.  He was sworn in immediately after a 7-1 vote to approve his nomination.  Director Paul Duffy was the lone hold out.
