Mayor Courtright Denies Wrongdoing

In a statement released to the public, the criminal attorney representing Scranton Mayor Bill Courtright denies any wrongdoing on the part of his client.  The release linked the two raids conducted by agents of the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) on City Hall and Courtright’s West Mountain residence to possible campaign finance violations.

Acknowledging that federal agents had executed search warrants at both locations, Walker continued, “The supporting information to secure those warrants is unknown to us.  By virtue of the nature of the requested information, it is believed that the inquiry relates to questions about campaign finance.”

Walker pledged full cooperation on the part of Courtright, who “vehemently denies any wrongdoing and is confident that when the investigation is complete he will be completely exonerated.”
