The Rev. Scott R. Pilarz, S.J., the recently returned President of the University of Scranton, announced Wednesday in a video message that he has been diagnosed with amyotrophic lateral sclerosis, commonly known as Lou Gehrig’s disease.

Pilarz will continue to serve in his position.
