Only in Scranton: Bolus Offers Sanctuary to Immigrants

It must be silly season.  With elections for state and federal offices just days away, local businessman and perennial candidate Bob Bolus unveiled a banner at a former church he owns purporting to offer sanctuary to undocumented immigrants.

The old Holy Cross Church in West Scranton was purchased by Bolus from the Diocese of Scranton in 2009.  While it has stood empty since then, it seems like its new owner finally found a use for it.  The banner falsely claims that Governor Tom Wolf, U.S. Senator Bob Casey, and Congressman Matt Cartwright support so-called sanctuary policies that preclude cooperation with federal law enforcement on immigration matters.  The three do not.
