Four Dems Running For City Council

The Democratic primary for Scranton City Council is taking shape with four candidates in the mix for their party’s nomination for one of the two seats up this November.

Scranton School Director Mark McAndrew threw his name in the mix this week, announcing his candidacy for the Democratic nomination for City Council.

Jessica Rothchild, a local physical therapist and progressive activist, entered the race earlier this month. Incumbent Councilman Tim Perry will seek re-election on a ticket with U.S. Army veteran Andy Chomko.

McAndrew was re-elected to a second term on the Scranton School Board in 2017.  He has served since 2013.

Republican Councilman Wayne Evans occupies the other seat on November’s ballot.  He has not publicly announced whether he will seek another term.
