A well placed source inside the Lackawanna Democratic Party has told The Scranton Citizen that Mayor Bill Courtright’s resignation is only a matter of time.

“He’s under the gun,” said the operative.  “There’s rumors everywhere.”

Courtright has been silent since agents of the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) raided City Hall and his home on Wednesday.  The FBI has declined to offer specifics of the investigation and Courtright has not provided an explanation to City Council or the public.

In the event that he does resign, Courtright ally and Council President Pat Rogan will assume the duties of acting mayor.
